We were all so very excited! It has been 3 months since Grammy's last visit and Riley was anxious to get the airport to show off just how much she has grown and changed. We even arrived early, only to find that Grammy's flight was delayed. Time passed quickly though, and before we knew it, Gramms was gliding down the escalator filled with hugs and kisses for Riley.
All was well, until we were waiting for Grammy's luggage and Riley's tummy hit rock bottom. I tried offering her the bottle we had packed, but it was icy cold and she didn't want anything to do with it...and boy did she let me know, as well as every traveler within a 100 foot radius. She did settle down some, after an impromptu nursing session in the restroom facilities, but was still fussy as we headed to the car...and most of the way home...and upon our arrival home. We were all devastated, as this was not the homecoming for Grammy that we had imagined.
The game plan was for Riley to stay with Gramms, while JD and I went out on a date together, giving Riley time to get comfy with Grammy before Monday rolled around. But Riley seemed to have her own agenda. At first I thought she had stranger anxiety with the looks she was giving her Grammy, but when she wouldn't settle down for her Daddy either, we didn't know what to think. All I could think about was "what if she was like this when JD and I both had to leave for work in the morning". We didn't know if she was just stressed out, or if we had to worry about separation anxiety, or if she was just not feeling well. By the time she had cried, and, well screamed, off and on for about 2 hours, we were at wits end. Thank goodness for Grammy's patience...as she finally managed to soothe Riley into a restful slumber so JD and I could go out for a quick bite.
When we returned home, all was on the right path again. Riley was awake, getting acquainted with Gramms. So, we all played for a bit before getting Riley's red swollen eyes told us she had had enough for the day. We tried to hit the sack a bit early, as we knew we might need a good nights rest before tackling the unknown on Monday morning.
Fortunately, a good night of sleep was just what the doctor ordered. Grammy helped me give Riley her early wake up call on Monday morning, and without a doubt, Riley was full of her a.m. smiles!
And Sunday...well...we figure she must have just been under the weather (probably because she hasn't had a poopie diaper in four long days!)

Riley, it sounds like you are settling in with Grammy. You keep those sweet smiles and have a great visit with Grammy. Love Nana
Hi Riley,
I love the shades you are sporting in the first photo...very chic. I just want to remind you that she might be your Grammy, but she is MY MOM and you better not give her any trouble! Your Mom will have to explain that joke to you someday. Hope you are being a good little baby girl so Santa brings you lots of goodies!
Love,
Aunty Christine
