Changes!

Riley continues to surprise us each day with how quickly she is growing and changing. Although we have run into one minor complication for blogging...she has become a bit camera shy...which makes capturing those special smiles a bit tricky. Just the sound of the camera as it turns on, captures her attention, then she just stares on the green light that shines when it is focusing on her face. So, now I have to sneak up on her with the camera and just pray that the picture has time to focus and does not turn out blurry.

From the photos below in jammies, you can see that the optimal time for snatching up Riley smileys, is in the morning when she wakes from her sweet dreams...especially after her nights of endless slumber (10-12 hours straight)!

On Sunday, Riley will be turning 12 weeks old. She is quite adamant about holding her own head up these days and trying to sit up more on her own. Even when we are holding her, she is constantly holding her head back and looking all around. Although, every once in a while, you will still get a good head butt from her. Her persistence will soon payoff, especially as we practice in our new chair we just received as a gift from the Titus family. It is a bumbo chair that you can use more after 3 months of age, when babies can hold their head on their own. Since she is almost there, we just spend a few minutes at a time sitting in the chair while we listen to our favorite sing-a-long songs.

Did I mention that Riley has made a new discovery over the past week that she is head over heals about???? With her improved coordination, she has discovered her hands and cannot get enough of them. When she is not sleeping or eating her milk...she is all about gnawing on every inch of her hands...and I mean GNAWING! Her toys have taken a backseat over the past couple of days, as she is discovering all that her hands have to offer.

What's next???

We'll catch you soon.

Love,
JD, Karen and Riley

My little "Sweet Pea" is growing up so fast. You are so adorable sitting in you big girls chair. That will make story and singing time so much fun. I Love You. Lots of Hugs and Kisses and to Mommy and Daddy as well.

Hi All!
I never took the chance to thank you for all the warm hospitality during my visit a few weeks ago. I especially enjoyed all the cuddle time from the sweet baby girl. She is changing so much with each post. I am always looking forward to new pictures and stories. Can't wait to see you again at Christmas!
Love,
Christine
