Playtime!

Riley has quite a collection of toys...although she wouldn't know, as we only keep a few out at a time. Right now she seems to be quite amused with her new doll from Aunt Christine. I think she likes all the sounds it makes, with it's crinkly hat and dress, squeaky flower and bell tucked inside that jingles with every move.


(Notice the serious look...She has become quite camera shy over the past week. She can be ever so playful...that is until I pull the camera out...then she just stares. It is quite amusing, but a bit frustrating because I want to capture every smile to share with all of you.)

She has also become much more coordinated with gripping and loves playing with her rattle. It is just the right size for her little hands. Sometimes she grabs hold and doesn't let go!

Riley even tries to multi-task...sometimes she's successful, sometimes not.

JD and I love playtime with Riley. She is so sweet, especially when we find the right combination to unlock her smiles...like finding a ticklish spot on her belly, or blowing on her face, or making exaggerated facial expressions. She is also beginning to catch on to the anticipation of something happening when counting 1, 2, 3... My favorite play activity is holding Riley in front of the big mirror in our room and waiting for her to realize that she is seeing her reflection...the smiles are priceless! JD likes sitting on the bed with Riley resting on his legs...he gets good eye contact and makes different voices that make her smile.

Each day is like a box of chocolates...you just never know what you are going to get!
