Viva Fiesta!

Fiesta Friday is one of the last days of the 11 day celebration in San Antonio known as Fiesta. Fiesta began as a way to honor the heroes of the Alamo and the Battle of San Jacinto. Over the past century and more, Fiesta has grown into a celebration of San Antonio's rich and diverse cultures. 2009 marks Fiesta's 118th anniversary.
Riley is ready to experience a taste of Fiesta this weekend...with her flower headpiece.

Our Fiesta Friday was filled with adventure. Grammy and Aunt Mary had a ball playing with Riley while I went to the office for a half day. I think everyone's favorite passtime, is chasing Riley around the ottoman cubes in the family room. She gets so excited and is all smiles and giggles...which is very contagious! Of course, we also get to laughing, because Riley will only move to the left around the cubes. Grammy worked very had to get Riley to move around to the right, but she would only budge for a few steps...then, would revert back to moving to the left!
Second favorite, playing peek-a-boo, especially around corners.

Riley and Grammy played so hard this morning, that even Grammy had to lay down for a midday nap!

Once I made it home, Riley and I Skyped Daddy for a few minutes, before leading the gang on a wild goose chase...okay a hunt for a field of bluebonnets...the Texas state flower. We know there are some perfect locations about 1.5 hours out of town, but we didn't want to travel too far. So, we ventured out on drive for about an hour to see if there were any closer to town. Unfortunately...we had to throw in the towel...no fields of bluebonnets were anywhere to be found...that is until after we were headed home for an early dinner. Just when we thought our mission was a bust...we spotted a large patch (definitely didn't classify as a field), of the spring wildflower.

The excitement of the find, gave us all a good second wind, which we put to good use at the pool. Riley continues to love the water...splashing, kicking her feet, walking along the side while holding onto the edge, and especially playing catch with one of the pool basketballs. Aunt Mary and Grammy were surprised to see what a fish Riley has become over the past few months. She is very relaxed in the water and will sometimes even dunk her own face in the water.

The splishin' and splashin' wore everyone out tonight. Riley was so tired, that after she had her last bottle, she fell right to sleep...no "floppin' like a fish out of water" tonight trying to find that comfy spot(another story for another day).

Riley, I am not sure who was having a better time you, Aunt Mary or Grammy? What beautiful flowers...Wish I was there. Love you, Nana
