Happy Eight Months

Riley woke up very happy on her 8 month birthday...trying one of her latest sneaky morning games of waking up very quietly, then standing up to pound her hands on the top edge of the crib...but Daddy snuck up on her instead!

Daddy has been enjoying his extra time with Riley over the past few weeks and we both just adore watching her grow and learn. She continues to babble and has discovered the "h" sound...now if we could just tie that to saying "hi", that would be fantastic. "Da, Da" doesn't come as often as "Ma, Ma"...and she says "Ma, Ma" for everything...so no word-object association just yet. "Ba, ba" is another sound she will make when babbling away.

Riley's favorite pass time...crawling to the ottoman and standing up. She usually will just walk back and forth down one side, while holding on, but if tempted, she will round the corner and explore the other side. If standing still, she will beat on the ottoman like it is a drum.

She showed off all her new talents for her Aunt Cindy and Uncle Chris this weekend, as they were in town for a Pharmacy Conference in which Chris was a guest speaker. Riley was thrilled to have new company and a lot of extra TLC!
Friday night, we introduced the family to a San Antonio tradition...Rudy's BBQ. Riley's not ready for smoked brisket just yet, but she sure enjoyed her roasted apples and oatmeal.
After dinner, we headed home to enjoy some evening fun in the backyard. Riley had a ball trying to get "Earl" off her back, while keeping Aunt Cindy and I busy chasing away from the grass.
The girls enjoyed watching Uncle Chris and JD play a few rounds of corn hole...before retiring inside to get ready for bed.

We knew we had to get a good night's rest for a big day on Saturday!

Happy 8 months to you Sweet Pea!!!!! WHEW!!!!! where has the time gone. It just seems like yesterday that your mommy was calling at 1 AM and telling me her water broke and can it wait till morning because your mommy and daddy had just got home and they were tired. My words of wisdom were Oh No, little Sweet Pea will not wait until you get a good nights sleep, you have to get to the hospital right away otherwise you would have been born at home.
Anyway I did not mean to go on and on I am just so glad that you are a big part of my life now and I love you sooo!!! much.
