Protein Power

Yesterday, JD took a vacation day to enjoy some one-on-one time with Riley. It turned out to be a great day for the two of them. We still woke Riley up at the usual, 5:30 a.m., but it was nice to be able to put her back in her crib at 6:45 a.m. for a nap, versus in her car seat to head to the sitter. I think she enjoyed this as well, for she napped until 9:00 a.m. JD was most surprised and thankful as well, for he too, enjoyed a little morning siesta on his day of vacation.
The afternoon was filled with some serious playtime - lots of practice standing and holding onto the ottoman, even taking small steps to maneuver around the ottoman without the help of JD. They also played some rounds of peek-a-boo, which really got to Riley's funny bone. Later in the day, JD and Riley partnered in a few errands, then headed home for a late afternoon nap.

For dinner, we decided to introduce some protein...Earth's Best Sweet Potatoes and Chicken. We gave her 1/2 of a jar...and she ate every last bite!
After dinner we played some more, practiced crawling...which she is getting a bit frustrated with, as she wants to go forward (to get toys or other temptations out of reach), then Riley discovered that I too have toes!
(Sorry for the vacuum in the background.)

8:30 rolled around quickly, and, as usual, Riley was rubbing her eyes and fussing a little, as she was hungry. It was the usual time for a bottle and kisses goodnight...or so we thought!

As Riley reached the last few sips of her bottle, her eyes were heavy. I put her over my shoulder as usual to get a little burp, then, out of the blue, her head pops up, and she looked back and forth at JD and I, gave us a few smiles, then wanted nothing to do with sleeping...she had caught a second wind...and was non-stop until after 10:00 p.m. (at least that is what JD reports, as I was out long before then).
So, we ask ourselves...was it the chicken or perhaps just the time change playing tricks on our little sweet pea???
