Picnic in the Park

Today was our first venture into the hill country with Riley. We decided to go to Canyon lake for some fresh air and sunshine. We packed a picnic lunch and headed to the overlook park at the lake. Because it was a nice day, the park was packed with people walking and riding bikes on the levee, tons of boats on the water, and families heading down to the waterfront for a dip.

After lunch, we just relaxed on the hillside, taking in all of the action. Riley seemed to enjoy all of the sounds of the park, dogs barking, birds chirping, kids hollering and laughing, and Harleys rumbling. Fortunately, the bugs only bothered one of us...that was Daddy. The only thing that made Riley a little squirmy was when the bright sunshine would peek through the tops of our shade trees.

After some play time with us, Riley caught right on to an all time picnic favorite...an afternoon siesta!

What a carefree day! It was so nice to escape for the day and enjoy the great outdoors. I am sure we will all sleep like babies tonight!
