This past week was action packed, especially the first half, as we still had some very special visitors in town. Aunt Mary and Grams were visiting over Labor Day weekend and stayed through until Wednesday. It was great to have them both visit, as an extra set of hands, or two, is always a HUGE help! They had the chance to play with Riley on her tummy time mat, read stories and rock her to sleep at night...they even helped with changing lots of diapers (probably more than they bargained for). Grams had a good laugh during one diaper change, for what should have only taken one diaper, soon turned into three, due to Riley's impeccable timing!
We had a great time with Grams and Aunt Mary. We didn't get out too much, as Riley keeps us closer to home these days, but we had a ball experiencing a few new things.
On Sunday, JD gave Riley her first bottle, even though she ended up wearing half of it! Thank goodness for all of the wonderful bibs we received as gifts!
See...when I don't wear a bib...I can be very messy!!!
Then, on Labor Day, we had beautiful weather, so we decided to take Riley for her first swim in the pool. We didn't keep her in too long, because she started to get a little chilly from the cooler air, but she seemed to enjoy the water. Perhaps she too was inspired by the great swims by the Olympic athletes in Beijing.
Mary also helped me to try and capture Riley's handprints for her baby book. Needless to say, this didn't go exactly as planned...and ink pad plus a baby don't really go hand-in-hand!
We tried to get in a game of Dominos...but you know who had another agenda in mind. Riley has decided at a very young age that Dominos was not for her...perhaps we should have tried Rummy or Euchre instead.
It was tough having to take Grammy and Aunt Mary to the airport on Wednesday...We didn't want to say goodbye. Hopefully we will see them again soon.
Please don't stay away too long...and help us get our other Aunts and Uncles on a plane to San Antonio to meet me soon! ...Love, Riley
