Hurricane Ike was originally planned to keep us indoors all weekend, but fortunately took a turn to the east, towards Houston, which left us with perfect weather for some site seeing. On Friday, we geared up a day of new adventures with Nana and Gramps.
Then, we packed up and headed out. First, we took Nana and Gramps to the Toyota plant site for a quick glimpse at the complex here in SA, then did a drive through some old stomping grounds of Gramps...Kelly AirForce Base.
Our next stop...the one and only Alamo...well, that was after a quick pit stop for a diaper change and bottle in the back of the Highlander (which JD and I thought we would never have to do...how quicly we have learned that with a baby...anything goes!)

This was Riley's first trip to the Alamo. We walked the grounds and found a few spots for some great snapshots!
The tour boats were busy, so we too decided to hop aboard for a trip down the river.
Thank goodness all of the lush landscaping helped to keep us cool, as it really started to heat up in the afternoon. Riley was the best the sport all day, despite getting a little sweaty. What a super fantastic baby girl...we are so lucky!!!
On Saturday, we introduced Nana and Gramps to another Texas favorite...breakfast tacos! Then, we took some time to just enjoy our time together before heading out to the Shops at LaCantera. After all...a girl is never too young to be introduced to a day at the mall.

I couldn't believe it, but when Sunday rolled around again, JD held strong...he was not kidding when he said that we would be dressed up in Chicago Bears gear every Sunday during football season. Originally, I had on a different shirt, but after the guilt trip from JD and Riley, I caved...and threw on my Bears t-shirt. As you can see...we are even working on Nana and Gramps to adopt the Bears as their NFL team! Riley is helping to convince them...afterall...who could refuse this sweet little face???
Over the weekend, we even had the opportunity to celebrate a very special birthday. Once again, Nana turned 21! Riley helped make a delicious carrot cake that we all helped to devour!
And the mystery of the missing slice of cake has been solved...So, who stole the cake from the cake platter??? Riley didn't steal the cake and Mommy didn't steal the cake...DADDY stole the cake from the cake platter...and tried to blame it on Mommy all weekend! Happy Birthday again Nana...hope you and Gramps enjoyed your trip and come back to visit soon!
