Tour 'de Chatt

Tonight is our last night in Chattanooga...what a trip! Riley and I braved our first plane adventure on our own last Friday, when we flew into Chatt to spend a few days with Daddy...and are now preparing for the return trip.

Riley traveled in style in her Baby Bjorn, which worked out perfect for both of us.

Since she was still under the weather, she enjoyed napping off an on as we flew from SA to Atlanta, then into Chattanooga. I enjoyed the ease of carrying her, while still having some free hands to juggle whatever was needed. Although Riley didn't have much energy for smiling, she still managed to bring out the best in the company that surrounded us either on the plane or in the airports. We were both glad to arrive in Chattanooga for a relaxing vacation.

Saturday, we spent the afternoon checking out the suburbs and looking at a few prospective areas for buying a home. Then, we stopped for dinner at a local grill on our walk to the river front area.

The park along the Tennessee River is quite lively with a pier, open barge concert arena, playground, and many other attractions close by. We kept the day simple since Riley was still running a temp over 100 throughout the day.

Sunday, we were quite lucky to have guests already come to visit. JD's parents and sister, Amy, tested the drive from Newburgh and joined us for the afternoon. After lunch, we headed to what we understood to be one of the best aquariums in the U.S. We were definitely not disappointed!

The Chattanooga Aquarium was phenomenal...made up of two buildings...one displaying salt water life, and the other fresh water. We all had a wonderful visit and enjoyed the may exhibits.

Riley was most fascinated by the butterfly exhibit and tried to keep up with watching the little creatures flutter all over. Nana even found a special butterfly for Riley.

Aunt Amy had fun exploring the hands-on exhibits with Riley. Although Riley's splashing frightened the fish away.

Riley had the best seat in the house, even catching an afternoon siesta while we visited the special seahorse exhibit.

Yet with so many hands to help...Riley spent most of the time getting up-close and personal with the animals in the many tanks, trying to figure out the glass that prevented her from grabbing hold of the fish.

It was a great Sunday afternoon and we had a blast visiting with JD's family. We look forward to lots of visitors after we are settled in our new home here in Tennessee.
