Happy 2 Months Baby Zachary

Boy oh boy...We love our Little Skipper, but he is growing way to fast for me. He has already outgrown his newborn clothes and is beginning to wear some 3 months outfits. I am quite certain he has had quite a growth spurt over the past week, as he has been very sleepy...especially over the weekend...and has a very healthy appetite...6 to 7 four ounce bottles.

For 2 months, Zachary is sleeping very well. At night he is sleeping anywhere from 5-8 hours straight and continues to put himself to sleep all by himself...no pasi required (which never ceases to amaze me each and every night). During the day...sleep is more of a struggle. During the morning, he usually falls asleep in the car seat when we drive Ry to daycare, then will sometimes nap for 3-4 hours (I think he is addicted to napping in it). I don't like to disturb him by removing him from the car seat when we get home, which probably is not the best decision, considering this is one of the only places I can get him to nap during the day. I am working on and afternoon nap in the crib, but will often only sleep for about 30 min. or so at a time, then wake up fussy. He seems to like cuddly places to sleep during the day...like curled on his side with on super soft blankets, or on our bed...I don't think this will fly at daycare. So, I will continue to work on napping in the crib.

Zach loves when you get up close to him and talk and babble. He knows all of our voices and responds to all of us with smiles. If you are holding him, he really does like to snuggle up right in the middle of your chest. We often put him over our shoulder to be burped after eating, and he will throw his back to hold it up on his own, then try to either wiggle to the center of your chest, or keep holding his head back to try and get some eye contact time. Of course, sometimes he loses control and he will head butt our shoulder area (which has to hurt...we think the tiny bruise that he has on the bridge of his nose is the result of this). Although Zach seems pretty laid back most of the time, he can also get quite fired up...especially when he is hungry or has gas (which he has more often than we wish...we are fairly certain it is the Simply Thick...let's just say we will be glad when he is required to have this any longer...stinky pooh is all I have to say!). The Simply Thick truly is a blessing, as the acid reflux seems to be well under control - no more spitting up. We may even take him off of the Zantac after his 2 month check-up. He does a cough that he can't seem to shake, which we think is from the thick coating of milk as it is settling down his esophagus. So, if we could resolve this and his blocked tear ducts, then we will be a-ok!

What has Zach been up to this month:
He will now hold your hand as you are feeding him his bottle...as if to safeguard his bottle. And when holding him, he will grasp onto your shirt collar or sleeve...as if to say "please don't put me down"! (My favorite!)

He is beginning to coo more often when you talk to him and is beginning to enjoy playing with his Baby Einstein light/music toys. He tracks the lights, but seems to like the silver ball the most which shows his reflection.

He has really been sticking out his tongue a lot lately and will watch you very closely if you imitate this.

And this past week...he has discovered his fingers and hands and likes getting those in his mouth as much as possible. I am okay with him chewing on them...but I will do everything possible to keep him from sucking his thumb (like his Mommy used to do when little).

Zach doesn't care much for tummy time. Most of the time he is content just looking to one side, but with lots of encouragement, he will turn his head back and forth and is starting to hold it straight forward for longer periods.

With a big sister always on the go, Zach truly is a trooper, and makes it pretty easy to keep up with the action. Can't wait to see what adventures lie ahead as he continues to grow by leaps and bounds.
