Our most favorite holiday tradition since moving to Tennesse...spending the weekend at Opryland in Nashville. This is our 3rd year in a row...and each year there are new memories that we build. It might be the same destination, but it is always a new experience! We like to stay at the hotel for one night...it's a wee bit pricey, but so convenient to just valet the car and walk to where we need to go. This year was a little different, but that is a story in itself for another time.
JD and I stayed at the Opryland for the first time many years ago...well before kids...and absolutely fell in the love with the place. The hotel is like no other...especially at Christmas. The lights, decorations, ambiance...you name it...Opryland has it! Last year we introduced JD's parents to the excitement, as they traveled with us. This year, it was just the 4 of us...but hopefully next year, Grammy will get to come along for the adventure.
We always take in an evening show at the Rockettes at the Grand Ole Opry House...it is amazing! The girls are gorgeous and have the most amazing legs, yes, but the choreography and rhythm are incredible...not to mention the grand finale of the living nativity. (Poor Zachary did not have a nap this year...and scene #3, the Nutcracker, just did him in. His eyes were so heavy...he just didn't stand the chance of staying awake. Fortunately, he caught a second wind after intermission.)
Our weekend would not be complete without a trip through ICE!
And the theme this year..."Frosty the Snowman".
How could you not fall in love with this display...snowmen are too cute...and Frosty is just the most jolliest of jolly snowmen!

We rounded out the ICE adventure visiting Gingy and warming up with some hot chocolate.
Last stop on our weekend get-a-way...to see the one and only jolly St. Nick himself!
We love the Christmas Workshop at Bass Pro Shop, as there are so many wonderful activities for the kids, while we can take turns waiting in line. Riley's must-do's...the craft project and letter to Santa, while Zachary goes for the guns and remote controls.
A final stop at Rainforest Cafe...including the infamous "Volcano"!
Great weekend, great memories...a trip highly recommended from our family to yours.
