Happy 4 Months Zachary!

Zachary is the sweetest 4 month old baby boy...so sweet, and growing way too fast. I remember our first days together when he was such an ity bity...and already he is comfortably wearing 3-6 months outfits and 6 month onesies (which fit perfectly due to his long torso, like Riley and Daddy).
His 4month well baby is scheduled for the 29th, and I am anxiously awaiting to find out how much he has grown. We also await direction Dr. Alcantara will take with Zach's blocked tear ducts (as his left eye is still rather gooey most days), and with his aspiration and acid reflux. We would love for him to be taken off the Zantac and the thickener used in his formula, but with a lot of congestion still occurring when waking from sleeping, we are not certain what the result will be. (After his doc appt. on 9-29...At 4.5 months, Zach's stats: 15 lbs. 5 oz., 25.75 in. - 50% percentile)

At 4 months, Zachary:
  • hasn't rolled over yet...but is getting very close! He is very good at using his legs to push and scoot, although I wish he wouldn't do this when on his back, as this isn't helping his growing bald spot on the back of his head.
  • has filled the last seat at our kitchen table and seems to enjoy sitting and playing while we eat. Don't worry, I am sure Dr. Alcantara will sign off on cereal after his visit in a couple of weeks.
  • has the brightest smile ever...it sooo melts my heart over and over again.
  • loves to sit on your tummy while you are laying on the floor. He really gets to smiling and giggling if you do crunches while playing peek-a-boo.
  • has started to coo more...overall he is still pretty quiet, for he probably can't get much of a word in with Ry around...but he has his moments when he just jabbers away.
  • is reaching for toys and puts everything in his mouth...his favorite still being his hands or his burp cloth. If you leave him playing on his back with his burp cloth close by, he often grabs it and chews on it, and sometimes will even put it over his face, as if he is playing peek-a-boo. He acts as if it is a security blanket the way he will grab hold of it and not let go. We love to play "tug-o-war" with him when he has his death grip on it.
  • seems to enjoy listening to stories and will reach out to hold and try to chew on the books.
  • can sit for longer periods in his Bumbo seat...but needs to work on holding his head up straight, as it often hangs down, which causes all his drool to slowly drip from his cute little lips.
  • is getting even better at tummy time, using his arms to help lift his head high.
  • is addicted to his "Little Lamb" swing for napping. Of course, it is sooo soft and cozy...I don't blame him. He will often nap for 2+ hours in his swing. So, even though it takes "D" batteries which are not an option in rechargeable energizer...it still was the best buy.
  • has adjusted very well to spending the day with his nanny, Miss Ashley, and his playmate, Bailee. We are so fortunate to have this opportunity to keep him out of daycare, especially at his age.
  • loves his big sister and shows this by watching her whenever she is close by...often foregoing an afternoon siesta once she comes home from daycare.
Happy 4 months our little Skipper. You make our family complete!

Zach, what a big boy you are. You are growing up so fast. I am so glad you are having a good time with Miss Ashley. And a big 4 months old. I can't wait to see you. Love and lots of kisses, Nana
